Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog! I have always enjoyed reading blogs of friends, family, and fellow teachers, but I had never thought of making one myself. Hopefully this gives me the opportunity to not only explore a new technology to use in my classroom, but also to provide a creative outlet for me to discuss classroom, and related technology topics! As Will Richardson states in his book, Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms, "the best way to fully understand the potential of Weblogs as a teaching and learning tool is to become a blogger" (Richardson, 2010) I am very excited to see what this course has to offer!

Hi Tracy,
ReplyDeleteI too am finding this course to be very exciting. I am looking forward to blogging with fellow classmates, and agree with your quote from Richardson.
If you are interested on Saturday this weekend at the Baltimore Book Festival there will be a lecture on Blogging on Books. Copy and paste the following link for more details. http://www.baltimorebookfestival.com/schedule/event-detail/586/Blogging-About%20Books
I look forward to possibly seeing you there.
Kim
I can't figure out how to add a link in the comments section yet. If you know how please share.
Looking forward to working and learning with you.
Hey Kim! Thanks for the invite, but unfortunately, I will be attended an out of town funeral this Saturday. :( I hope you have fun! Please let us know if you learn any interesting/useful information!
DeleteHi Tracey,
ReplyDeleteI am with you on feeling like you want to see what this class is about. I have liked these activities so far. I know that it may get harder, but that's the nature of the beast. I am curious though, do you think that you will maintain a blog after this class is over. I think that it would be a great idea, but I am not sure that I could take the time. I know it is a "minute" type of activity, but I feel that I would forget from time to time.
I do like your page as well. I almost feel like I am looking at the Claritin (I think you spell it that way) commercial. It looks like there is beautiful fresh air in the picture, but it's blurry. :-)
Do you think that you will keep the focus of this blog only to technology, or just have a wide range of information on here, like reflections too?
Sadly, I doubt I will keep this blog running after this class :( I always feel like I need an extra few hours a day to accomplish what needs to get done, so unfortunately, this will probably go on the back burner. Maybe I will resurrect is once again after I graduate and have some more free time on my hands! :)
DeleteHi Tracey, I agree with both you and Conya that blogging isn't for everyone. One should definitely have a preconceived objective or goal for the Blog to achieve. Maybe there is something to be done to make it more exciting.
DeleteLikewise, Huwe (2003) states the following, “Not everyone is “born to Blog”, but Blogging deserves a close look, not only because of its simplicity, but also because of its potential to open a new zone for professional practice.” Huwe, in the article below discusses a few things to make blogging work for you. Just highlight and right click the link below into a new window, and see all the fun you can be having. once you get the time of course.
